1. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA

The agenda will be proposed for adoption by the CPD


2. CONVENOR� OPENING REMARKS

The convenor will report on developments since the last CPD meeting in May 2000, in Brunei.

3. STRENGTHENING THE FUNCTIONING OF MARKETS

a) Implementation of the APEC/OECD Cooperative Initiative on Regulatory Reform

繚 Report on the outcome of the Opening Conference held in Singapore on 21-22 February 2001 (Peru).
繚 Discussion on the next steps within this Initiative. The plans for the future workshops within this cooperative agreement will be also presented to the CPD.

b) Cooperation Framework on Strengthening Economic Legal Infrastructure

Japan will update the group on the progress achieved in the implementation of the Cooperation Framework on Strengthening Economic Legal Infrastructure, specially in relationship with Menu of Options on Competition Policy and Concrete Projects.

4. REVIEW OF OAA GUIDELINES

The CPD Convenor will open the discussion on the last modifications proposed in the Competition Policy and Deregulation Chapters of the OAA Guidelines.

5. REPORT ON ACTIVITIES RELATED TO COMPETITION: 2000 - 2001

繚 Summary Report on the Competition Policy and Law Database (Chinese Taipei)
繚 Report on the Fifth APEC/PFP Course on Competition Policy (Japan).

6. RELATIONS WITH OTHER APEC SUB-FORA

The GOS Convenor, the SCSC Chair and the IEG Convenor will discuss the interrelationship between competition and the issues covered by their respective sub fora, in order to propose common tasks towards the implementation of the APEC Principles to Enhance Competition and Regulatory Reform.

7. PROJECT AND PROPOSALS ON CPD ACTIVITIES DURING 2001

United States, Korea and Mexico will report activities and projects related to competition issues.

8. INTEGRATION OF GENDER ISSUES INTO THE CPD WORK PROGRAM

繚 AGGI will brief the CPD on how to better integrate gender issues in work program of our subfora.
繚 Human Capacity Building Initiative. Discussion of possible contributions from CPD to the work being coordinated by the Human Capacity Building Coordinating Group.
