Abstract
Liberalization, in its rigorous form, means the Lifting of once regulated restrictions and promote active competition. Ever since the implementation of Fair Trade Law in 1992, fair competition has become the main theme of our industrial policy. In particular, the petroleum market is undergoing the liberalization process. Lifting unnecessary restrictions and introducing competition have become the major policies for the supply of petroleum and its product in Chinese Taipei.
In order to promote and facilitate competition in the petroleum market, there
are some major issues to be required further clarification. For instance, the
utilization of key resources in the industry may prevent actual competition
from taking place. Furthermore, as multiple firms joint the market, the coordinating
mechanism between government sectors may be another key factor for effective
competition. In order to build a competitive and efficient petroleum market,
we need to study the key elements of petroleum market competition, as valuable
references for the Fair Trade Commission.
