A Study on Rules of Competition for Internet Industries

Abstract

This project makes a study of the Internet in all technical areas, Internet competition, influence between industries, and the policy of Federal Communication Commission.

The physical networks of the Internet apply multiple transmission methods, from PSTN, CATV, wireless, mass media to direct satellite transmission. The virtual networks of the Internet consist of unlimited activities that take place on physical networks. It conventional separation of labor and jurisdiction between sector-specific laws and competent authorities therefore becomes obsolete on the Internet. It thus follows that the Fair Trade Commission and the Fair Trade Law will govern Internet competition in the foreseeable future.

What should be avoided the instant application of old policies regulations to new technologies and industries and taking preventive measures based merely on preconceived problems or anticipated bottlenecks. The strength that unleashed by market competition and technology development is not being underestimated.
