Decision Guidelines in the Telecommunication Sector

The legislation on free and fair competition in Peru strives to ensure that the processes of the agents interacting in the market, through free private initiative, procure the most benefit for users and consumers. In this sense, OSIPTEL assumes that the goal of the legislation on the promotion and protection of the competition has wellbeing effects on consumers and therefore acts to fulfill that objective.

The competition law (Legislative Decree No1034) is the same both for The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property NDECOPI- and for OSIPTEL, being OSIPTEL the entity specifically in charge of the telecommunications market. OSIPTEL acts through two instances a first body and a specialized Tribunal).
