National Economic Prosecutor's Office

Members: The National Economic Prosecutor's Office is the only permanent body.

Functions: The National Economic Prosecutor'Office is independent from any organization or service, particularly from the authorities and courts before which it fulfills its functions, and it relates with the government through the Ministry of Economy. The National Economic Prosecutor may defend the interests assigned to him in the manner he deems according to Law and to his own discretion. In each region, there are Regional Prosecutors who depend on the National Prosecutor and fulfill the duties pertaining to him.

Its main authorities are to order investigations; act as a party representing the general interest of the community in the economic order before the Resolutary Commission and the Courts of Justice; require the adoption of preventative measures; issue the reports requested by the Commissions; request the collaboration or the disposal of antecedents from any public officer, State entity, private individual or enterprise; exercice the penal action when the Resolutary Commission orders it.

Operation: The National Economic Prosecutor's Office has its seat in Santiago.
